It's hard to believe how things have changed. At the expense of my impression management, I spent many, many years alone and was starting to truly believe that the whole relationship thing was not for me:
I love how I managed to blog about my Valentine's Day dissatisfaction and running in the same post. In fact, I made it a point to work out every year on Valentine's Day (since I started college), just to rectify my mood.
In fact, just hours after I wrote the post above, I headed to the gym. I didn't do my planned workout, as I had a rough day with work/school stuff. Instead, I figured I'd stretch and walk home.
So I stretched.
And "The Ukrainian" (who was "that guy in the gym who keeps talking to me" at the time) ran on the treadmill next to my stretching mat. While I can't say that the conversation that followed left a good impression on me, he must have made it up to me somehow... because here we are, three years later.
Happy Valentine's Day to all!
I love that you guys met (or at least connected) on a Valentine's Day cheer-up trip to the gym!
ReplyDeleteHow quickly thigns can change, huh?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful story. Did I understand it right - the non-impressive treadmill conversation happened on Valentine's Day? so sweet :) I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day this year as well!
